Community Outreach
Other than medical outreach, HIV Management and Business skills training, RUNELD supports other community initiatives. We operate in a region with poor infrastructure and other basic necessities. We try to intervene where we can through the help of various agencies.
Context
Homa Bay County in western Kenya has seen rapid population growth in recent years.The population bulge has resulted in environmental degradation leading to food insecurity.Another consequence of the rapid population increase is straining of water and sewerage sources in the urban centres and drying of wells in the rural areas. The high poverty rates and incidences of high HIV prevalence has negatively affected school going children most of them lacking basic learning apparatus.
Intervention
We are partnering with the county government, donors, and other program implementers in developing policies and implement programs that integrate population dynamics and development.
Water & Sanitation Program
We engage the local communities and identify their water needs. The ultimate goal is provision of safe,adequately quality clean water. We partner with the County government and other donor agencies to provide this vital service. Our ultimate goal is to have every home and public institution access to clean and reliable water.
Actions
Education Program
Here at RUNELD, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Quality education requires quality learning materials. We distribute school stationery and other learning materials to needy schools in our area of operation.

Learners have benefited from our textbook donation drive.
