Intervention

RUNELD invests in local people’s capacity for prosperity, we offer technical and material support for the local residents. Our strategies involve access to Information and capital for starting the various incoming generating ventures.

Enterprise Program

Fish farming is the main economic activity in our area of operation. We support small scale fish traders with capital where possible to buy the fish and means of preserving the commodity as the fish is very perishable. We have also diversified and introduced horticulture to supplement fish farming. We have a team of agricultural extension officers who assist the farmers in the value chain and access to market. Overall, we link farmers under our ambit to financial organizations and negotiate favorable lending terms for the entreprenuers.

Actions

Financial Literacy Program

Our volunteer program includes Short term medical volunteers who take up assignment for a period of 1-2 months. We also have volunteers who work in the medical field for a period of 3months to 3 years. Finally, there are project based teams working in the Hospital to provide primary health care.

Tree Planting Program

There is a direct link between health and environment. We are an environment conscious organization believing in greening of the planet. Science proves that trees reduce carbon footprint thereby regulating global warming. Fish farming and horticulture thrive in a well balanced ecosystem. To this end ,we launched a tree planting program targeting to plant 1 million trees in Homa Bay and adjacent counties  by end of the year 2022 .
